About the Role
Join Lewisham’s award-winning Integrated Adolescent Service as an Education, Training & Employment (ETE) Worker, playing a vital role in improving the life chances of children and young people involved in the Youth Justice System. You will help young people access and sustain meaningful education, training, and employment pathways, promoting positive engagement, reducing offending likelihood, and supporting reintegration into the community. Working at the intersection of youth justice, education, and multi-agency partnership, you will be part of a forward-thinking service committed to inclusion, anti-racist practice, and improving outcomes for Lewisham’s diverse young people.
The ETE Worker acts as a critical link between Education, the Youth Justice Service, and the wider Integrated Adolescent Service, ensuring young people receive the support they need to progress in learning and employment. Responsibilities include completing specialist ETE assessments, developing tailored action plans, supporting young people to overcome practical, educational, social, or emotional barriers, managing a caseload, providing 1:1 support, attending multi-agency education panels, and advocating for appropriate provision. You will collaborate closely with schools, colleges, training providers, employers, SEND services, SALT colleagues, the Virtual School, and statutory and voluntary partners to ensure high-quality, coordinated support. Safeguarding, anti-racist practice, and inclusive approaches are central to this role.
Benefits include excellent training and development opportunities, generous holiday allowance, Local Government Pension scheme, flexible working and family-friendly policies, season ticket and bicycle loans, a range of staff discounts including local subsidised gym memberships, and supportive staff networks.
Experience
Proven experience managing a caseload within a structured, statutory, or education-focused setting. Experience providing practical employability support such as CV building, interview preparation, and job application guidance. Strong knowledge of youth justice, education legislation, safeguarding frameworks, SEND, and barriers faced by young people with complex needs.
About you
A motivated, resilient practitioner passionate about helping children and young people re-engage with education, training, and employment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to diverse learners and work creatively with young people. Ability to build effective relationships across multi-agency systems. Commitment to anti-racist practice, advocacy, and equitable access to education.
Qualifications
Level 4 or higher qualification in careers guidance, education, or a SEND-related discipline. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. This is a full-time position and not open to job share.
