Safer Communities Officer (Licensing)


Location
Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU. Hybrid working with regular office and home working.
Hours
Full time, with flexibility to attend evening meetings, work outside normal office hours, and beyond minimum hours when required to meet deadlines.
Salary
£45,852 - £47,925 per annum (PO2). Appointments are normally made at the minimum spinal column point unless matching current salary with evidential proof.

As a Safer Communities Officer (Licensing), you will apply your expertise in licensing legislation including the Licensing Act 2003 and Gambling Act 2005 to administer and enforce local authority licensing regulations focused on community safety. You will handle complaints, conduct inspections, interview involved parties, and prepare reports, evidence, and statements, providing testimony as required. This role requires a flexible, detail-oriented individual capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment, building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and managing sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion. You will contribute to delivering high-quality licensing services and developing productive partnerships across public, private, and voluntary sectors.

Experience
Proven knowledge and experience of licensing legislation including the Licensing Act 2003 and Gambling Act 2005. Experience working in community safety or licensing enforcement roles is essential. Ability to manage competing priorities and workloads in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
