The Stations team within WSP’s Rail business are actively seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to provide site-based support to our teams delivering electrical building services designs for major Railway Stations and other Railway Buildings. The role will principally involve liaison between the WSP design team and the main contractor and their sub-contractors.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Knowledge of Electrical site installation work, preferably on Rail projects
- Understanding the design and specification produced by WSP and our sub-consultants
- Providing advice to the design team on buildability, access, maintenance, commissioning and testing provisions within designs
- Undertaking non-intrusive site surveys to gather information for the design team
- Facilitating site visits by design team including risk assessments and attendance at main contractor safety briefings
- Attending internal and external design, interface and progress meetings
- Attending factory and site acceptance tests
- Monitoring installation progress and reporting emerging technical risks
- Producing responses to technical queries and supporting review of technical submittals and contractor proposals
- Supporting production of design development notes, particularly for field changes
- Assisting main contractor in inspecting ongoing installation for compliance with design intent
- Supporting resolution of site non-conformances and defects
- Supporting development of BWIC and associated site changes and remedial work
- Assisting main contractor during commissioning and entry into service
- Reviewing red-line mark-ups for as-built documentation and operating and maintenance documentation

You will work closely with like-minded individuals on exciting and challenging projects. The Rail Station MEP team consists of more than 70 mechanical, electrical and Public Health Engineers. You will join a team of professionally qualified, diverse, talented individuals who collaborate to undertake project work across the design lifecycle, from early concept stage to detail design, delivering projects for Network Rail, HS2, TfL, Transport for The North, TfGM, Nexus, Local Authorities, Principal Contractors and Private Developers. Reporting to a senior member of our stations team, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and challenging multi-disciplinary Rail stations projects around.

Requirements

Experience
- Electrical building services design and Site design representative experience in the Rail environment, including HV and LV distribution, UPS and battery systems, lighting and emergency lighting, earthing and bonding, and CMS design
- Knowledge of Network Rail and/or Crossrail and/or HS2 standards (knowledge of LUL/TfL standards is also useful)
- Understanding of Building Regulations, British standards and industry guidance associated with electrical building services
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations such as Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, Common Safety Method and HSE guidance
- Experience with typical project administration processes including technical queries, non-conformance notices, technical submittals
- Knowledge of typical testing, commissioning and entry into service processes
- Understanding of project technical lifecycle including RIBA work stages and BSRIA BG6

Qualifications
Registration with a UK Engineering Institution is required.
