WSP are seeking an enthusiastic and talented Utilities Engineer to join the Roads team based in London & South East. You will work alongside a diverse group of professionals ranging from early career engineers to experienced project managers, all focused on improving local and strategic road networks.

Your role will be central to a high-performing and supportive team, using your skills and expertise to maintain and improve the quality of engineering outputs. You can expect to deliver utility connections, diversions, and utility infrastructure strategies for small to large schemes across the UK. You will prepare designs and specifications in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB), support the development of Graduate Engineers and Apprentices, produce technical reports, and undertake site visits to inform designs.

You will also collaborate closely with Project and Technical Delivery teams to measure carbon on projects using the WSP Future Ready programme and contribute to delivering work in compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental Legislation, and in-house quality assurance standards.

Requirements

Experience
- Delivering utility connections, diversions, and infrastructure strategies for various scheme sizes in the UK
- Understanding requirements of Electricity, Gas, Water, and Telecommunications network owners
- Experience with Multi-utility / iDNO / ICP offerings is beneficial
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and organise time effectively
- Knowledge of BIM standards and protocols
- Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civils 3D or similar software with 2D drawing and 3D modelling capabilities
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Excellent communication skills to engage with co-professionals and deliver high-quality reports

- Passionate about design and developing innovative solutions
- Strong networking and technical communication skills
- Interest or capability in digital automation, data-driven design, or computational tools including AI-assisted workflows, Python, C++, Dynamo or similar is welcomed
- Commitment to working collaboratively within a team environment
- Enthusiastic about supporting and mentoring Graduate Engineers and Apprentices

Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Highways design experience in accordance with DMRB, TSRGD, Traffic Signs Manual, and Local Transport Notes
- Proficiency in design and drafting tools such as Civils3D/AutoCAD
- Additional skills in Bentley design software like OpenRoads Designer/MicroStation are advantageous
- Familiarity with BIM environments such as ProjectWise, Autodesk Forma (formerly ACC), Common Data Environments, CAD QA/QC processes, and collaborative digital delivery is beneficial
- Attained or working towards professional qualifications such as IEng, with demonstrable progress
