About the Role

Our Engineering Graduate Programme (Backend) offers a 12-month development opportunity designed to fast-track your technical career within global financial markets technology at London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). Starting September 2027, this programme provides a comprehensive induction, hands-on experience, and exposure to various departments to help you discover your ideal career path within LSEG.

Throughout the programme, you will build foundational skills critical for your success, including a global induction 'Engineering Bootcamp' week to immerse you in LSEG’s business and engineering principles. You will participate in group projects aligned with LSEG goals, attend a mid-point skills offsite called ‘Ignite’, and have access to industry-recognized qualifications with study days included. You will also connect with a global early careers community and engage in corporate social responsibility initiatives.

From day one, you will be placed in a division aligned with your skills and interests, working permanently within a secure framework. We seek candidates interested in Backend Development familiar with programming languages such as Java or Python and databases like SQL. This is your chance to learn from technology experts and develop your career in a leading fintech company.

Experience
We welcome candidates with demonstrated curiosity and passion for technology through academic studies, internships, extracurricular activities, or personal projects. Experience with backend development, coding, or technology-related roles is highly valued. Candidates from diverse technical backgrounds including Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Informatics, Physics, Engineering, or Electronics who can demonstrate an interest in technology are encouraged to apply.

About you
You have a strong interest in technology and financial markets, demonstrated through your studies, work experience, or extracurricular activities. You possess analytical skills with a curiosity for data and the ability to draw conclusions and propose solutions. You are adaptable, resilient, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Collaboration and effective communication are key strengths. You must have the right to work in the UK without restrictions for the duration of the programme and be available to join on a permanent basis from day one.

Qualifications
You must be a final year undergraduate or Masters student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, having completed all course requirements before August/September 2027, or a fresh graduate from the class of 2026. Familiarity with backend programming languages such as Java or Python and databases like SQL is required.
