Job Description:
As Engineering Manager for the HS2 Track Infrastructure Project, you will provide senior technical leadership for the Track Systems scope, ensuring integrated delivery, assurance, and governance of multidisciplinary design in line with HS2 contractual requirements. You will support the Lead Engineering Manager / Engineering Lead (Lot) in coordinating and delivering design from Scheme Design through Detailed Design, construction support, and As-Built stages, adhering to Works Information and HS2 assurance processes.

You will act as the Lot-level engineering focal point, coordinating day-to-day design delivery with Construction, Commercial, Planning, and Project Controls teams to align design outputs with programme, cost, and construction sequencing requirements. Embedded within the route-wide Track Engineering function, you will ensure consistency of technical standards, governance, assurance processes, and design integration across all Lots.

Key responsibilities include coordinating and monitoring Designers and specialist subcontractors to ensure compliant, integrated, buildable design deliverables aligned with route-wide technical principles; managing internal and external interfaces within the Lot; participating in technical reviews and assurance activities; supporting client and contractor engagement; identifying and mitigating technical risks and opportunities; supporting change processes and providing technical input to commercial communications.

You will attend weekly meetings with construction, design teams, and clients in Birmingham and/or London.

Requirements

Experience
- Chartered Civil Engineer, Rail Civil Engineer, Architect, or equivalent.
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Extensive experience in major infrastructure projects, including senior design or engineering coordination roles.
- Strong track record in major rail programmes is highly desirable.
- Experience operating under NEC contracts.
- Experience managing and liaising with third parties and other contractors.

Qualifications
- Chartered status in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
