We are seeking environmental professionals across all levels of experience to support our Environmental Management and Assessment Team in the UK. Our exciting portfolio spans sectors such as onshore and offshore renewables, aviation, nuclear, and rail, among others. We need people with a creative spirit, a dedicated approach, and a solid grounding in environmental design, assessment, and management at any stage of the development project lifecycle.
As one of the largest environmental consultancies in the UK, WSP is involved in some of the most challenging and high-profile projects, from small developments to major national infrastructure schemes. Our Environmental Management and Assessment Team oversees and manages environmental inputs throughout project lifecycles, engaging early at concept and option stages to shape projects that address sensitive environments and communities.
Supporting continued design through to consent application, we collaborate closely with environmental specialists and other professionals to develop proposals that enhance the environment and communities. We focus on delivering wider benefits such as improved habitats, cleaner air and water, lower carbon emissions, and overall environmental gain. Once schemes are approved and underway, we work alongside design and construction teams to ensure commitments are met.
This role suits a proactive individual eager to progress their career by influencing, managing, and delivering environmental elements of engineering projects across sectors including rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential developments, from feasibility through planning, detailed design, construction, and handover/maintenance.
Key responsibilities include providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues; collaborating with diverse teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement; managing delivery of environmental inputs such as EIA screening requests, scoping reports, environmental constraints studies, management plans, and Environmental Statements; overseeing project performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspects; building client relationships and identifying support opportunities; contributing to business development and strategic bids; supporting innovation in Digital EIA and technical excellence; mentoring junior colleagues; promoting an inclusive workplace; and contributing to the success of WSP’s business strategy.
Experience
- Relevant experience of EIA and EIA processes within multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrable post-qualified experience coordinating environmental assessments on a variety of projects
- Knowledge of relevant environmental and planning legislation
- Experience liaising with cross-discipline teams, clients, and external bodies
- Appreciation of project management activities including commercial, risk, forecasting, and quality assurance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including detailed report writing

Qualifications
- Relevant environmental degree level qualification
- Achieved or working towards Chartered Environmental Status and full membership of IEMA or similar professional body
