Description
The vacancy Your typical day would start with a handover from the night team, so you can prepare for the day ahead before you undertake a welfare 'check in' with one of your young customers who you are concerned about. Then you may need to attend a multi-agency meeting to discuss a safeguarding matter about a young customer, before you check each resident's rooms to ensure there are no repairs, health and safety concerns or fire risks. As a Female Specialist Support Worker, you'll join our Complex Needs Service in London working with our young homeless female residents some of which are care leavers and ex-offenders who have high support needs who are between 18 to 25 years. With a particular focus on safeguarding their wellbeing and promoting good relationships within their community, you'll play a crucial role supporting these young women to reach their goals and aspirations to move on to independent living. You'll understand why professional boundaries are important and be confident at managing tense and difficult situations because you may have to de-escalate difficult situations during the night. You'll be skilled at building trusting relationships, understand trauma informed care and recognise the signs of abuse. You'll need to be able to work waking night shifts, no more than four per week over a two-week period at our supported housing scheme. Your role covers all aspects of housing casework which includes helping residents to develop coping skills or promoting their understanding about how they can sustain a longer term tenancy. To be successful in this role, you're: Experienced working with vulnerable young females where the focus is on their development and growth? Knowledgeable or have experienced homelessness or high vulnerability? Experienced in managing challenging behaviour or conflict and still be approachable and engaging? Knowledgeable of safeguarding and trauma informed principles Proficient in IT, report writing and be able to manage a complex caseload? You'll need to be able to work the specified shifts as stated above (early, late and including some weekends and bank holidays). This female only scheme is supervised across 7 days, 24 hours per day.
