The role sits within the Finance Business Partnering function reporting to the Discipline or Senior Finance Business Partner. Primary stakeholders include a defined set of operational leaders and managers such as Service Line Directors and Profit Centre Managers.

The key purpose of this role is to support the WSP business to deliver profitable and sustainable growth. You will be responsible for providing dedicated financial planning and decision support aligned to strategic and customer priorities. As a Finance Business Partner, you will work with a number of business centres to challenge assumptions, influence decisions, and make recommendations for efficiency improvements to sustain growth and quality of earnings.

Core accountabilities include remaining accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial records (including balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow and forecasts). You will ensure variances between budgets, forecasts and actual results are anticipated in advance, with root causes understood, clearly explained and necessary actions implemented.

Additional responsibilities involve identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial and commercial risks and opportunities, supporting the business in balancing risk with return, and acting as a trusted point of contact by transforming financial and non-financial information into insight. You will use this insight to challenge and influence business decisions to improve financial performance of WSP projects and services.

You will challenge and monitor overall project income, cost to complete, working capital and change control, engaging in project reviews for prioritised projects. Ensuring corporate financial governance and control is understood, adhered to, and communicated effectively to the business is essential. You will also drive and respond to change within and outside of the organisation while maintaining the WSP finance operating model.

Experience
Understanding of finance business partnering, with experience of supporting a variety of stakeholders. Confident in communicating with stakeholders. Experience working collaboratively with shared services teams.

About you
Committed to continuous improvement and lifelong learning. Able to challenge assumptions and influence decisions effectively. Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform financial and non-financial information into actionable insight.

Qualifications
Studying towards a full accountancy qualification with a recognised organisation (ACA, CIMA, ACCA), expecting to complete within 3 years.
