About the Role
The Food Service Assistant is responsible for cooking and preparing food according to recipes and production guidelines while strictly adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. You will safely handle knives and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and broilers. Key duties include the service of food and beverages to customers to company standards, ensuring compliance with all food hygiene regulations, particularly H.A.C.C.P. regulations, and performing cleaning duties related to service areas and equipment. You will prepare and maintain service points, clean and replenish service equipment, and ensure accurate storage of food items and equipment after service. The role involves food assembly and light cooking, monitoring and recording food and equipment temperatures, handling cash transactions with accuracy, and attending in-house training sessions. Maintaining personal hygiene, appearance, and uniform according to company standards is essential, as is presenting a professional image to promote good customer relations. You will also comply with and assist in promoting the company’s health and safety policies and other procedures. Additional duties may be assigned by management to ensure smooth department operations. Barista duties may also be required. This role demands an interest in food and service, excellent customer service skills, a courteous manner, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and good timekeeping.
Experience
Previous experience in a catering environment is desirable but not essential as on-the-job training will be provided. A minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar environment is preferred. Customer service experience is also important.

Dedication, self-motivation, and good timekeeping are essential. You must maintain high standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
Qualifications
Must acquire a basic food hygiene qualification within the first six months of employment. Knowledge of Food Hygiene including HACCP is required. A good understanding of English is necessary to complete paperwork and follow procedures accurately.
