About the Role
Are you fascinated by high-paced algorithmic trading, data science and complex engineering systems? The Execution Solutions team is at the heart of Goldman Sachs' European Electronic Trading business, collaborating closely with clients, Sales, Trading, Engineering and Quantitative Research to enhance platform performance. As an Associate in this dynamic team, you will work directly with some of the most sophisticated investors globally, including asset managers, hedge funds and systematic quant funds, helping them understand and improve their trading strategies' performance. You will analyze large structured and unstructured datasets, uncover hidden trends and translate these into actionable recommendations for clients to run live experiments. Additionally, you will contribute to researching and publishing differentiated, in-depth analysis of liquidity as European market structure evolves.
Key responsibilities include independently performing Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) to monitor client performance, identifying improvements to existing products, presenting data-driven recommendations during client reviews, and maintaining clients’ technical setups and configurations. You will develop a deep understanding of our algorithms, trading systems and proprietary trading signals to demonstrate the value of our product offerings. The role also involves improving and expanding existing tools for data analysis and trend detection using AI and automation frameworks, as well as researching liquidity and market structure evolution across European markets to produce thought-leadership content clients can rely on.
Experience
- Genuine interest in markets and equity electronic/algo trading, with a focus on Europe preferred
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to extract insights from large, raw datasets
- Hands-on coding experience in KDB/q, Python or SQL preferred; strong ability in any programming language is welcome
- Familiarity with business intelligence software such as QlikView, Tableau or Power BI
- Prior exposure to Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA), European market microstructure or other electronic execution concepts is advantageous
