About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pension Fund Governance Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective governance and regulatory compliance of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). You will work closely with the Head of Pensions, Pensions Manager, Pensions Committee and Board, and external advisors to uphold the highest standards of fiduciary oversight and operational excellence.
As the Governance Manager, you will lead the development and implementation of governance frameworks, manage Committee and Board meetings, prepare and maintain up-to-date policy documentation, and monitor adherence to legislative and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will help shape strategic decisions and ensure the long-term sustainability and integrity of our pension arrangements.

Experience
- Proven experience in pension scheme governance or a related field
- Strong knowledge of UK pensions legislation and regulatory requirements for LGPS funds
- Experience supporting trustee boards or governance committees
About you
You are a governance professional with a strong background in pensions, compliance, or financial services. You bring a deep understanding of pension scheme governance, regulatory frameworks such as The Pensions Regulator (TPR), Scheme Advisory Board (SAB), and Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) requirements, and trustee board operations.
You have excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders. You are proactive, organised, and comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
A relevant professional qualification (e.g., PMI or governance) is desirable but not essential.
