About the Role
The Financial Times is seeking a graphics journalist to join its Visual and Data team. This role involves creating first-class visuals and bespoke web pages, working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will be an enterprising and enthusiastic team player, passionate about producing engaging, high-impact visual journalism and using technical skills to explain the news to readers.
Core responsibilities include staying on top of the news agenda and proactively identifying stories suited for visual storytelling, whether major global events or long-running themes. The role requires close collaboration with designers, editors, reporters, and engineers to find technical solutions that combine data, multimedia, and text to communicate ideas effectively. The candidate will produce embeddable graphics for quick turnaround stories as well as immersive visual projects that may take several weeks, working with reporters across the FT's global network.

Experience
- Interest in global business, finance, economics, geopolitics, trade, and technology
- Experience creating bespoke data visualisations and multimedia layouts using React or similar web frameworks
- Numeracy and data-handling skills, including programming experience with R or Python
- Ability to think statistically and adapt to changing technical and editorial needs on tight deadlines
- Comfortable multitasking and taking ownership of the visual aspect of stories
- Experience working with the latest AI tools while maintaining quality and accuracy
About you

- Able to work across multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Desirable but not essential
- Experience with digital cartography
- Motion graphics and video editing skills
- Experience working with 3D objects and Blender

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required; however, a strong portfolio demonstrating relevant skills and experience is expected.
