About the Role
Southwark Council is seeking a dynamic and passionate Health and Safety Manager to lead the enhancement of Health and Safety practices across our People & Organisational Development and Strategies and Communities functions. In this pivotal role, you will utilise your diverse skill set and extensive experience to transform Health and Safety (H&S) practices throughout the Council. Your success will depend on your ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across all departments, fostering an inclusive and engaging approach that empowers individuals and drives health and safety initiatives forward. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing comprehensive health and safety strategies, creating processes and procedures aligned with recognised standards, conducting thorough risk assessments, and collaborating with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices. You will also provide expert guidance and training to staff, demonstrating resilience, pragmatism, and confidence in decision-making as you address complex issues and identify opportunities for service enhancements. This role offers flexible home working blended with travel into our London Bridge HQ.

Experience
Proven background in health and safety management with a NEBOSH National Diploma or an IOSH Qualification. Previous relevant experience within Local Government or the Public Sector is highly desirable.

Qualifications
