About the Role
At Immediate Media Co, we are home to some of the UK's most beloved consumer brands, including Radio Times, Good Food, Gardeners’ World and History Extra. Our trusted, quality content reaches millions monthly across digital, print, video, podcasts, apps and live events. We inspire audiences to deepen their knowledge, skills and passions, helping them enjoy more of what life offers — from fitness goals to cultivating indoor and outdoor spaces, to enjoying the latest TV sensations with loved ones.

As a Horticultural Content Creator, you will be a dedicated, skilled gardener and confident content creator across both written and video formats. You will produce two to three written pieces weekly and appear on camera, seamlessly moving between magazine features, web guides and YouTube scripts without sacrificing accuracy, depth or craft. Gardening is not just a subject you cover, but a genuine vocation — your hands-on expertise will make every piece, written or filmed, valuable to our audience.

AI and the future of publishing
We value a strong understanding and curiosity about AI’s evolving role in publishing and the opportunities it offers. While you won’t have all the answers, an open mind and enthusiasm for AI’s potential are essential. Immediate is committed to applying AI responsibly to enhance content and products, and to upskilling staff to futureproof careers.

Key responsibilities include:
Written content: Produce two to three horticultural pieces weekly across print, digital and off-platform channels — including practical guides, seasonal advice, plant profiles, how-tos and news-led articles — adapting tone and format for audiences from seasoned exhibitors to first-time growers. Contribute longer-form magazine features under editorial guidance and produce strong written assets to support video output.
Video content: Plan, script and present horticultural videos for YouTube and social media, bringing practical authority and a warm, credible on-camera presence. Utilize Gardeners’ World’s extensive archive for fresh video formats and coordinate written and video content to complement each other.
Audio and podcast: Contribute to the Gardeners’ World podcast, helping develop stories, guests and themes that work across podcast and print.
Collaboration and planning: Work closely with the editorial team to plan and deliver content aligned with seasonal and strategic priorities, developing new formats that engage both established and new audiences. Represent the Gardeners’ World voice consistently across all output, adhering to editorial guidelines and brand values.

Requirements

Experience
- Horticultural training to Level 3 or equivalent (e.g. RHS Level 3, relevant degree or demonstrably equivalent practical qualification).
- Extensive practical gardening experience evident in the specificity of your work.
- Strong, versatile writing skills with a portfolio demonstrating confident writing for print and digital, produced consistently and at volume without sacrificing craft.
- A natural editorial thinker who understands the differences between magazine features, web guides and social captions, adapting voice accordingly.
- Confidence on camera or clear evidence of developing this skill, comfortable presenting, being coached and developing a presenter voice.
- Collaborative team player, generous with knowledge and happy to support colleagues’ work as well as lead your own.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and output streams independently and within a close-knit team.
- Open and enthusiastic approach to new tools and ways of working, including the growing role of AI in editorial production.

About you
You are passionate about gardening as a vocation, with hands-on expertise that informs your content. You are adaptable, creative and thrive in a fast-paced editorial environment. You embrace collaboration and continuous learning, especially around emerging technologies like AI.

Desirable
- Experience in an editorial environment (print, digital or broadcast).
- Familiarity with SEO and writing for web audiences.
- Experience creating video, social or podcast content and comfort behind a microphone.
- An existing social or YouTube presence with a gardening audience.
