What we’re looking for:
Do you have a background working with vulnerable young people within either a social housing, education, or charity setting?
Do you have experience of working with young people who have challenging behaviour where you can engage, be approachable and provide constructive support?
Do you have up to date knowledge of safeguarding and trauma informed principles?
Can you work pressure and meet required deadlines?
Are you confident writing reports and risk assessment and can use Information Technology such as MS Office (outlook, word, excel) and MS Teams?
Can you communicate effectively in plain and easy to understand language?

Here at Peabody, we have an number of roles opportunities for a Housing Support Worker - Young People on a Permanent basis at our scheme based in Witham, Essex (Bramble Court).
A bit about the role:
As a Housing Support Worker - Young People, you will be working in a team of Young People - Housing Support Workers, to help young people prepare to live independently.
The scheme works in conjunction with the local authority, Essex County Council and supports three separate cohorts of young people, 16–17-year-olds, care leavers and vulnerable young people ages 18-21.
You will have a caseload of young people to work with, where you will meet regularly to help them with their identified goals and discuss their progress through the service.
Some of the key results for the role include:
Assist the young person to access benefits or even support them with any relevant applications they need to make with respect to their health care or education and training.
When the young person is ready to move on you will work and help them to liaise with Local Housing Authorities regarding potential move on accommodation or help them look for suitable privately rented accommodation.
This role will require an Enhanced DBS and you must be able to work shifts across 7 days including weekends and bank holidays and be able to work at least 7 nightshifts per month where you will receive an allowance.
