About the Role
Join Peabody as a Housing Support Worker and make a real difference in the lives of young people aged 16–25, including care leavers. This role is focused on providing practical and emotional support to help young people build life skills, access housing, and feel empowered to shape their futures. It is not a care role but involves supporting young people to develop independence by navigating housing options, managing benefits, and budgeting. You will create a safe, non-judgmental environment where young people feel respected and supported. Bringing your own passions such as music, art, or sports will help enrich the community and build meaningful connections. You will also collaborate closely with colleagues and external partners to ensure timely and appropriate support for each individual.
Experience
- Experience working with young people, particularly those who have faced trauma, mental health challenges, or substance misuse is desirable.
- Transferable experience from youth work, education, housing, or similar sectors is valued.
About you
- Able to connect easily with young people and build trust.
- Creative and confident in engaging young people through various interests such as music, sports, or art.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, managing a caseload and supporting residents with budgeting, benefits, and housing options.
- Strong communication and IT skills.
- Ideally some knowledge of safeguarding, support plans, or key working.
Qualifications
- No specific qualifications required, but a positive attitude, kindness, and a proactive approach are essential.
