Salary

About the Role
Are you ready to make a difference in the quiet hours of the night? We’re looking for a Waking Night Support Worker to join us in supporting young people aged 16-25 with high support needs. This role involves safeguarding wellbeing, encouraging positive relationships, and supporting each resident’s journey towards independence, while ensuring the safety, calm, and security of our service overnight.

Your shift will start with a handover from the day team before preparing for the night ahead. You will carry out building checks to ensure a safe environment, address tenancy issues such as smoking or noise, and be available to respond to any emergencies. You may also host activities like film nights to build community spirit. Additionally, you will be prepared to de-escalate challenging situations, offer emotional support, and ensure all residents feel safe and supported throughout the night.

Please note: This is a waking night position where you are expected to remain alert and available throughout the night to support young people. Due to the nature of the service, young people may be arriving, leaving, or seeking support during night-time hours, and you must be comfortable responding to these situations as they arise.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience working with vulnerable young people (16-25 years) in social housing, education, or the charity sector, focusing on development and personal growth.
- Professional experience supporting people with complex needs, including homelessness, mental health, high-risk or high-harm behaviours, or high vulnerability.
- Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour or conflict, while remaining approachable, engaging effectively, providing constructive support, and maintaining professional boundaries.
- Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and trauma-informed care.
- Good IT skills, experience managing a complex caseload, strong report writing skills, and effective time management.

About you
Approachable, calm under pressure, empathetic, and committed to supporting young people’s wellbeing and independence. Able to maintain professional boundaries while providing constructive support and de-escalating challenging situations.

Qualifications
Must hold GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
