The vacancy Housing Support Worker (Waking Nights) Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays) Are you a night owl with a passion for making a difference? Join us as a Night Support Worker, where you'll provide vital overnight support to young people aged 16-17 who are experiencing homelessness. This is more than just a night shift—it's an opportunity to be a steady, reassuring presence for those who need it most. What You'll Be Doing As part of a dedicated team, you'll work awake night shifts to provide support and ensure the safety and well-being of young residents. You'll collaborate closely with daytime Housing Support Workers to provide continuous, wraparound care, ensuring that every young person receives the guidance they need, no matter the time of day. Your role will include: Being available throughout the night to provide emotional and practical support when needed. Monitoring the safety and well-being of young people while respecting their independence. Offering a listening ear and guidance to young people facing difficulties, ensuring they feel supported at all times. Keeping detailed and accurate records of any incidents, concerns, or progress during your shift. Providing a clear and comprehensive handover to the day team to ensure seamless support for each young person. Working within safeguarding policies to manage risks appropriately. What You'll Bring Excellent Communication Skills - Able to liaise effectively with both young people and colleagues, ensuring smooth shift handovers and consistency in support. Empathy & Resilience - A kind, non-judgmental approach with the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. IT Proficiency - Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for recording case notes and communicating with colleagues. Organisational Skills - Able to prioritise tasks, document key information, and manage shift responsibilities effectively. Teamwork & Collaboration - Work closely with day staff to ensure a joined-up approach to supporting each young person. Knowledge of Housing & Support Needs - Understanding of the challenges faced by young people experiencing homelessness, including mental health and safeguarding risks.
