We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior or Principal Hydrologist to join our dynamic Sustainable Water Management team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and contribute to high-profile Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) projects across the UK. WSP is currently embarking on a significant programme of AMP8 projects for multiple high-profile UK water companies. These projects are geographically and environmentally diverse. WSP is also leading the way in delivering challenging Environmental Destination projects across the UK, a topic that will feature heavily as AMP8 progresses. Additionally, we support water companies with developing hydrology for their WRMPs.

Your Team
Our Catchment Science team works across a wide spectrum of services covering water resources and water security, hydrology and hydraulics, water quality, hydroecology and hydrogeology. Through our projects, we provide high quality technical services and advice to a wide range of high-profile customers in the UK and overseas, including government departments and agencies, the water industry, and various industrial sectors such as power, transport, nuclear, mining, commercial and oil and gas.

Requirements

Experience
- Proven track record contributing to hydrological and water management elements and WRMP inputs in recent AMP cycles.
- Experience in developing rainfall runoff models with a sound understanding of model calibration techniques.
- Solid understanding of wider hydrology approaches required for water resources applications in England and Wales.
- Familiarity with demand management and water resources modelling approaches.
- Good understanding of the latest UK water resources management regulations including the Water Resources Planning Guidelines.
- Knowledge of approaches to assessing climate change resilience.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance, including producing high quality client and stakeholder/regulator facing deliverables.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to write high quality, concise reports.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other sectors and disciplines to deliver hydrological aspects of a wide range of challenging projects.

Qualifications
- A water-focused MSc (e.g. hydrology & water resources, sustainable water management) and a BSc in a related subject (e.g. physical geography, earth sciences, geology, civil engineering).
- You will have gained, or be working towards, chartership with a relevant professional body.
