About the Role
As an Associate in the EMEA Infrastructure M&A team in London, you will work alongside market-leading professionals at the heart of a leading global investment bank. You will participate in the full cycle of transactional execution including preparing marketing pitches, reviewing and formulating financial analysis, and preparing and presenting internal committee memoranda and client presentations. You will play a leadership role in implementing the execution function, working closely with analysts and associates, as well as assisting senior bankers on negotiations and tactics. This role offers the opportunity to develop strong functional skills across major areas of investment banking and to demonstrate the ability to become a senior officer capable of generating and executing your own transactions.

Working with a broader team of approximately 100 M&A practitioners in the EMEA region, you will be involved in real-time transactions that may include frequent travel. You will gain exposure to a broad set of transactions including sell-sides, divestitures, spin-offs, leveraged buy-outs, public to privates, acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, shareholder activism advice, and equity, bank and debt capital market transactions.

Sectors covered include digital infrastructure (data centers, communication towers, fibre and optical cable networks); transportation infrastructure (airports, seaports and container terminals, toll roads, EV charging, rail and mass transit, parking); energy, power, utility and mining infrastructure (conventional, renewable and distributed generation, storage, transmission and distribution networks, water and waste); and mission-critical services and social infrastructure.

Clients include corporates and financial institutions such as infrastructure investors, private equity firms, diversified alternative asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, family offices, and insurance capital providers. Transactions may be executed across EMEA or involve EMEA-based clients on global undertakings.

Key responsibilities include developing content for strategic client meetings regarding M&A transactions; interacting daily with senior team members and client management to execute transactions and discuss strategic alternatives; defining, guiding and reviewing detailed valuation analyses including DCF, trading comparables, transaction comparables, LBO and DDM analyses; developing bespoke and sophisticated M&A sale strategy processes; working closely with clients to prepare comprehensive transaction materials such as business plans, performance analyses, due diligence reports and marketing materials; assisting deal team leaders and transaction lawyers in negotiations and deal documentation; providing leadership, mentorship and supervision to analysts and interns; and participating in graduate recruiting.

Requirements

Experience
Several years of prior work experience in an investment banking front office role, a relevant role at a top-tier buy-side institution, or a consulting firm. Strong corporate finance proficiency and financial modelling skills. Experience in the transaction cycle with a focus on execution. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously and prioritize competing demands. Desire and/or experience working in infrastructure-related sectors on M&A transactions.

About you
Impeccable communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients, and key stakeholders across businesses. Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently. Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor junior team members.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. Proficiency in a European language in addition to English is desired but not mandatory. This role involves regulated activities; therefore, the successful candidate must meet regulatory requirements regarding fitness, propriety, knowledge, and competence, and obtain any necessary regulatory approvals.
