Labourer


Location
Primarily based at Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU and across housing properties and council sites within the London Borough of Lewisham. Occasional work at locations outside the borough and some evening and weekend work may be required.
Hours
Full time, hours as per council requirements including occasional evenings and weekends.
Salary
£34,863 - £35,892 per annum (Scale 5). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade unless matching current salary with evidential proof.
About the Role
Join the London Borough of Lewisham as a Labourer Operative and make a difference in your local community while developing your skills in building maintenance and repairs. You will support responsive and planned maintenance services across social housing properties by assisting skilled tradespeople, carrying out minor repairs, and ensuring properties and work areas are clean, safe, and ready for residents. This role is ideal for someone committed to excellent customer service, teamwork, and contributing to the safety and upkeep of council housing.

Experience
Basic knowledge of building maintenance and repairs with experience in labouring, maintenance, or a similar role is required.

Qualifications
City and Guilds and/or NVQ qualification (or working towards one), or equivalent experience in building maintenance or the building trades. Good standard of literacy and numeracy to complete basic documentation accurately. A full UK driving licence is essential. A satisfactory DBS disclosure will be required.
