Property Surveyor


Location
Primarily based at Laurence House, 1 Catford Road, London SE6 4RU. The role operates a hybrid working approach, requiring regular work both in the office and from home.
Hours
Full time, standard local government working hours.
Salary
£52,269 - £54,360 per annum (P04). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role unless matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale) with evidential proof.
About the Role

As a confident Property Surveyor, you will deliver high-quality surveying services across the Council’s housing stock. Your responsibilities will include carrying out inspections, diagnosing building defects, and specifying effective repairs. You will work closely with residents, colleagues, and contractors to ensure works are completed safely, to the right standard, and within required timescales. You will also support complex cases involving damp, mould, disrepair, and structural issues, contributing to a compliant and customer-focused repairs service. Experience
Proven experience in property surveying with strong technical judgement and the ability to diagnose building defects. Experience in preparing clear specifications, managing repairs through to completion, and working with contractors to deliver quality outcomes is essential.

You will have excellent written communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a customer-focused approach to supporting residents and resolving complex property issues. You must be organised, accurate, able to manage competing priorities, and confident in making clear, evidence-based recommendations. Strong judgement and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality repairs are essential.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a related field. HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent experience. The role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
