London Borough of Lewisham, primarily based at Laurence House, Catford. Hybrid working with a minimum of 40% office presence required.

£57,495 - £59,574 per annum (P06). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade unless matching current salary with evidential proof.

As the Corporate Equalities Adviser, you will be Lewisham Council's in-house expert on all equalities matters. You will lead a diverse range of policies and projects, engage with the community, and provide advice and training to senior officers and elected Members.
Your role will include providing expert advice on governance around equalities, ensuring statutory duties are met, and supporting colleagues on various issues. You will lead key projects and programmes to tackle inequality and create a fairer borough.
This position is both outward and inward facing, requiring collaboration with colleagues to improve their work while owning your own projects and delivering key priorities within the borough.

Experience
Proven experience delivering equalities policies or programmes that have had a tangible impact on people’s lives, ideally within a comparable organisation.
About you
You are an expert in equalities with a sound understanding of statutory duties applicable to local government. You have knowledge of effective equalities policies and awareness of key equalities issues facing local government and the Lewisham borough.
You possess the confidence and personal authority to drive the equalities agenda within the Council, delivering training, inspiring confidence in your expertise, and regularly presenting your work to senior officers and elected Members.
