About the Role
Ealing Council is proud to offer an exciting opportunity for a Lawyer specialising in Employment and Tribunals. The London Borough of Ealing is known for its first-class services and vibrant, diverse communities. In this role, you will provide expert legal advice on all employment law matters to the Council, schools, and other organisations as required. You will work independently managing a high caseload, ensuring decisions comply with the Council’s Constitution and legislative framework. A key responsibility will be representing the Council in court proceedings and supporting the Council in achieving best value in its commissioning activities.

You will also advise senior leaders, independent panels, and contribute to corporate policy development.

As the Employment and Tribunals Lawyer, your duties will include:
- Providing highly technical, specialist advice on all areas of employment law
- Advising on the Data Protection Act 2018, Environmental Information Regulations 2004, and Freedom of Information Act 2000
- Conducting straightforward and complex proceedings including evidence evaluation, strategic case management, case preparation, and advocacy where appropriate
- Advising clients on legal risks and how to mitigate them

Requirements

Experience
Must be an admitted solicitor, barrister, or legal executive with experience in employment law and tribunal proceedings.

About you
You will be able to work independently managing a high caseload, demonstrate strong advocacy skills, and provide clear, strategic legal advice. You should be committed to safeguarding and equality, with excellent communication skills suitable for a customer-facing role.

Qualifications
Qualified solicitor, barrister, or legal executive status is essential. Right to work in the UK is required. Enhanced DBS clearance and vetting will be conducted as part of recruitment.
