About the Role
Are you a qualified legal professional with a passion for supporting people with a learning disability or autism? Do you want to use your legal expertise to make a meaningful difference? We are seeking a Legal Advisor – Probate, Trusts & Property to join Mencap's Legal Team. In this role, you will help us provide transformative support through our discretionary trust services. By joining Mencap's legal team, you will utilise your legal knowledge and expertise by focusing on the smooth and efficient transfer of funds into a Mencap Trust Company trust to support a loved one with a learning disability or autism to live a happy and healthy life. Your key responsibilities will include leading the trust activation process, providing legal and technical support across the trust lifecycle, acting as a legal advisor to the Mencap Trust Company team, and supporting the Marketing and Trust Set-Up teams with technical queries.

Experience
A qualified Solicitor or Barrister (England or comparable jurisdiction), ideally with a practising certificate. 2+ years PQE in wills, trusts, and probate. A STEP qualification is highly desirable.

About you
Skilled in drafting, negotiation, and legal casework, with strong analytical and communication abilities. Familiar with conveyancing/property law and confident in managing a varied caseload. Comfortable delivering training and developing legal templates and guidance. A collaborative team member who can work independently and build strong external relationships.

Qualifications
Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal systems like CCH Central (or similar). A passion for trust law and a desire to make a real impact in the lives of people with a learning disability or autism.
