Are you an experienced construction and maintenance professional with a passion for improving social housing standards? We’re seeking a Major Refurbishment Manager to join Brent’s Property Services and manage high value maintenance and construction projects. About the post As Major Refurbishment Manager, you’ll be responsible for the commissioning and contract management of complex services and maintenance and construction work, ensuring they meet the Council’s objectives and affordability targets. Your project management responsibilities will include managing feasibility studies, brief development, design, procurement, delivery, finance and budgeting, cost control, and quality assurance. You’ll provide up-to-date building surveying and technical advice to various teams across the Council, and manage and lead project staff to foster high performance and a customer-focussed service. You will also uphold the guidelines set out by the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023, demonstrating a commitment to improving standards and ensuring the safety and quality of our social housing in compliance with this critical legislation. The ideal candidate You’ll have a degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience, with full professional membership of a body such as CIOB or RICS. You will also hold a PRINCE2 certification or equivalent project management training or experience. You should have extensive experience running building contracts in social housing, including managing complex major works projects feasibility studies, design and procurement. You’ll have strong knowledge of building construction and maintenance techniques, with an ability diagnose building defects. It is also essential to possess strong budget and financial management skills to be successful in this role. Additionally, you’ll excel in a customer-focussed environment, demonstrating a commitment to excellent service and strong leadership skills.
