About the Role
Brent Council is offering a unique opportunity for local graduates to join its two-year Local Government Graduate Programme, run in partnership with the Local Government Association (LGA) through the Impact programme. This high-profile national management trainee scheme is designed for high calibre graduates with the potential to become senior leaders in local government within ten years. The programme combines practical experience with structured development, including exposure to senior leaders and a dedicated mentor from the Senior Management Team.
As a Brent resident, you will benefit from a prime location with excellent transport links, making the Civic Centre easily accessible. The scheme offers strong peer and professional support, including a buddy system, regular feedback, and 1:1 meetings with the placement coordinator. Graduates who successfully complete the core programme may also be offered an optional third year fixed-term contract.

Experience
No specific prior experience is required; however, applicants must demonstrate motivation for a career in local government and public service.

- You are able to work full time and commit to the two-year programme.
Qualifications
- A minimum 2:2 undergraduate degree in any subject, obtained by Summer 2026.
- Right to work in the UK for the duration of the programme (no visa sponsorship available).
- Eligibility requires meeting at least one of the following:
- Have lived in Brent for at least 2 years;
- Have studied at a secondary or further education establishment in Brent;
- Be a Brent Care leaver;
- Have been employed by Brent Council for more than 1 year.
