About the Role
The role will work on the HS2 project, the UK’s new high speed rail network designed to drive economic growth by connecting 8 of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable, and frequent services. Costain+ is delivering the HS2 Rail Systems Tunnel and Lineside Mechanical and Electrical Systems works across the entire HS2 Route (HRS02). This includes the design, supply, manufacture, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance (until handover) of tunnel and lineside M&E systems, such as tunnel services within shafts, tunnels, and cross-passages, as well as low voltage electrical power distribution along the open route. The role also involves designing, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning tunnel ventilation systems.

Key responsibilities include supporting the design, review, and implementation of mechanical systems for HRS02 lineside works; interfacing and coordinating with other HS2 Rail Systems contractors including track, signalling, telecoms, OHLE, and HV power; reviewing technical documentation, drawings, and specifications; chairing discipline-specific meetings with HS2 and Costain+ partners; undertaking material selection and preparing technical approval documentation; ensuring compliance with UK rail industry standards and HS2 Works Information; identifying and managing technical risks; producing quality documentation such as ITPs and installation verification check sheets; supporting assurance, quality, and safety processes; and providing engineering support during design, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.

The role requires close collaboration with the engineering team, Costain+ partners, procurement, design, safety, commercial, and planning teams to ensure programme delivery and alignment with site requirements. Promoting and supporting Costain values and behaviours across the project is also essential.
