Hours
38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Plus standby and overtime opportunities, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 upon completion of essential company training.

Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime can increase earning potential by up to a further £8,000 - £10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

About the Role
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at Crossness Sewage Treatment Works. Your role will be to ensure all equipment at the waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently, using proactive and reactive maintenance methods to keep the site operational. You will investigate plant failures and perform repairs quickly and efficiently to avoid process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
You will provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees if required. Equipment you will work on includes motors, gearboxes, screw and chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps, associated control gear, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement devices, programmable equipment, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
You will complete statutory checks as required and always work safely in compliance with Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
All necessary PPE, tools, and a company van will be provided when on duty and on call.

Experience
Relevant experience within mechanical fitting or industry is required. Experience working with motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, and control equipment is advantageous.

About you
You must have knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues and be physically fit to work in confined spaces following appropriate training. A valid driving licence is essential. You should be proactive, reliable, and able to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high safety standards.

Qualifications
ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant mechanical engineering qualification is essential.
