About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a dedicated Missing, Vulnerable, and Exploited (MVE) Co-ordinator to join the Contextual Safeguarding and Exploitation Team (CSET). This specialist team includes a Team Manager, Deputy, Social Workers, and Business Support, all working in a relationship-focused capacity to contextualise the needs and risks of young people.
Your primary focus will be managing missing children and conducting one-to-one preventative and intervention sessions designed to challenge attitudes and improve aspirations for those at risk of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), and gang affiliation. You will conduct return home conversations following a child's missing episode, ensuring these are completed within 72 hours of the child's return.
Responsibilities also include completing weekly missing reports, attending and presenting at various safeguarding panels and meetings. Operating within Harrow’s contextual safeguarding framework, you will deliver an integrated approach to youth violence and vulnerability. You will manage a small caseload, supporting cases alongside Social Workers in the First Response (FRT), Children in Need (CIN), and Children Looked After (CLA) teams.
This role is pivotal in safeguarding "hard to reach" youth, sharing intelligence with multi-agency partners, and influencing care planning through skilled interventions.
Experience
- Significant experience in contextual safeguarding, specifically regarding Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE), Youth Violence, and Gang affiliation.
- Experience in managing missing children and understanding statutory reporting responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of the PREVENT Strategy, MACE (Multi-Agency Child Exploitation) panels, and Youth Justice.
About you
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines.
- Proactive approach to learning and a desire to develop specialist expertise in safeguarding and exploitation.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and service delivery.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or above (e.g., Youth and Community, Social Work degree, CQSW, CSS, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 (updated) or a commitment to learning this in readiness for the role.
- This post requires a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
