About the Role
Meta is seeking a Network Engineer to join the Foundation & Support team within Production Network Engineering. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, deployment, and operational health of Meta's site services network infrastructure — the foundational layer that underpins connectivity, reliability, and performance across Meta's global production environments. You will work at the intersection of network engineering and site operations, ensuring that core network services remain resilient, scalable, and aligned with the evolving demands of Meta's production systems.

Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining site services network infrastructure supporting Meta's production environments, including DNS, DHCP, NTP, and related foundational network services. You will troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents affecting site services availability, drive root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures. Developing and maintaining automation tooling and scripts to streamline network provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows is essential.

Collaboration with cross-functional partners such as systems engineering, data center operations, and software infrastructure teams is critical to align network foundation services with production requirements. You will evaluate network architecture tradeoffs, contribute to capacity planning and lifecycle management decisions, define and track reliability metrics, and identify degradation trends to drive improvements meeting availability targets.

Additional duties include identifying gaps in site services network coverage, delivering solutions to improve system resilience and operational efficiency, documenting network designs, runbooks, and operational procedures, and participating in on-call rotations and incident response to minimize production impact.

Experience
- 6+ years of experience in network engineering focused on production or data center network infrastructure
- 6+ years designing, deploying, and operating foundational network services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, or equivalent site services technologies
- Experience developing automation scripts or tooling for network provisioning and configuration management using Python, Bash, or equivalent
- Proven ability troubleshooting complex network incidents in large-scale production environments, including root cause analysis and post-incident review
- Experience communicating technical network designs and operational decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through documentation and presentations
- Experience contributing to capacity planning and lifecycle management for large-scale foundational network services
- Familiarity with BGP, OSPF, or other routing protocols related to data center and site services network design
- Experience with network infrastructure automation frameworks and infrastructure-as-code practices applied to site services environments
- Track record of identifying systemic reliability gaps in network infrastructure and delivering measurable improvements to availability or operational efficiency
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact such as efficiency gains and quality improvements
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality and accuracy reviews
- Ongoing AI skill development including prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration, and staying current with emerging AI technologies
