About the Role
Meta is seeking a Production Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of Meta's production infrastructure and services. In this role, you will manage a team of production engineers who own the full lifecycle of systems — from capacity planning and performance optimization to incident response and automation. You will drive technical strategy, champion AI-augmented workflows, and partner closely with software engineering, infrastructure, and product teams to ensure Meta's services operate at global scale with high availability and efficiency.
Key responsibilities include managing a team delivering reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency across multiple interdependent production systems; driving roadmap creation for infrastructure reliability initiatives, capacity planning, and automation efforts; leading adoption of AI-augmented engineering workflows; contributing hands-on to technical work including code, system design reviews, and incident response; partnering cross-functionally to unblock dependencies and ensure smooth execution of projects; proactively identifying and resolving operational toil; setting clear goals and providing feedback to develop engineers' skills; establishing and monitoring service-level objectives and reliability metrics; communicating system health and infrastructure strategy to leadership and stakeholders; and recruiting and retaining production engineering talent to support sustainable growth.
Experience
- 4+ years in production engineering, site reliability engineering, or systems software engineering
- 2+ years managing production or infrastructure engineering teams
- Proven track record driving reliability and scalability improvements for large-scale distributed systems including incident management, capacity planning, and performance optimization
- Experience coding and debugging in at least one systems or scripting language such as Python, C++, Go, or Bash
- Experience setting team goals, managing execution against roadmaps, and communicating infrastructure strategy to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development including prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration
- Cross-functional collaboration experience with software engineering and data science teams
- Experience integrating AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable impact
- Experience leading adoption of AI-assisted tooling or automation frameworks to expand operational scope and reduce toil
- Experience managing on-call rotations, defining service-level objectives, and implementing observability and alerting improvements at scale
- Familiarity with container orchestration, service mesh architectures, or large-scale deployment pipelines in production environments
- Experience adhering to responsible, ethical AI practices including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality reviews
About you
You are a proactive leader with strong technical expertise and a passion for operational excellence. You embrace AI-augmented workflows and continuously seek to improve team productivity and system reliability. You excel at cross-functional collaboration and have excellent communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are committed to ethical AI practices and fostering a sustainable, high-performing engineering team.
Qualifications
Relevant technical background in production engineering or related fields. Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering teams and driving infrastructure strategy. Proven ability to adopt and integrate emerging AI technologies within engineering workflows.
