The vacancy Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people? As a Youth Support Worker, you'll be at the heart of supporting 16-17-year-olds facing homelessness, helping them build a brighter, independent future. A day in your life You'll work alongside a passionate team in our new supported housing schemes in Lewisham, getting to know each young person on your caseload. From mental health challenges to relationship breakdowns or involvement in gangs - each story is different, and you'll be the one they turn to for guidance, encouragement, and practical support. Every week, you'll sit down with each young person, talk about their progress, and work through the steps they need to reach their goals. And when they're ready to move on? You'll be the one helping them navigate the housing register or find their new home. What you'll bring You've probably worked with vulnerable young people before - maybe in youth work, education, or a similar setting. Building trust is your superpower. You're a great listener, non-judgmental, and someone who knows when to offer support and when to take action if things aren't quite right. Sometimes things get tough, but you'll stay calm, handle challenging situations with diplomacy, and help de-escalate when tensions rise. You'll need to have: Strong relationship-building skills A compassionate, empathetic nature Great listening abilities A proactive and assertive approach Confidence in dealing with difficult situations We know the work can be challenging, but the reward of seeing young people flourish is worth it. You must be flexible and able to work waking nights, up to four nights and no less than three nights during the week as well as on weekends and bank holidays.
