About the Role
The Prime Minister’s Office enables the Prime Minister to deliver the Government’s priorities and communicate policies to Parliament, the public, and international audiences. The diverse No10 team combines expertise from across the Civil Service and beyond to deliver excellent service and make No10 a great place to work.

We are seeking a highly motivated Facilities Manager to support No10’s Facilities Management Team in the effective day-to-day management of world-class, customer-focused facilities services at the Downing Street complex. This role balances the complex’s multiple functions: a heritage building, a dynamic office environment, residential accommodation, and a venue for visitors.

Key responsibilities include Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Business Continuity, Corporate Governance, and line management of housekeeping staff. You will provide strong leadership, demonstrate commitment and flexibility, and be a proactive team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

You will build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels and promote partnership working with outsourced commercial service providers. The role requires delivering in a challenging, fast-paced environment where business continuity and service delivery are priorities.

Reporting to the Head of Facilities, you will line manage the Housekeeping Team and have indirect responsibility for site-based external service provider staff.

Responsibilities include:
- Line management and motivation of the Housekeeping Team and communication with contractor staff
- Being highly visible and the primary contact for queries
- Ensuring value for money in procurement and consumables ordering
- Managing maintenance regimes and building assets
- Conducting regular facility checks and taking necessary actions
- Supporting onsite inspections, floor walks, and service audits
- Monitoring work orders proactively
- Responding promptly to day-to-day queries or directing them appropriately
- Delivering a professional, friendly, and attentive experience
- Anticipating colleagues’ needs
- Acting as the out-of-hours emergency contact to ensure business continuity and address accommodation and maintenance issues

Requirements

Experience
- Proven workplace facilities management experience, preferably in high-profile buildings
- Membership of the Institute for Workplace Facilities Management (IWFM)
- Strong record of delivering quality FM services
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to build connections
- Strong interpersonal and line management skills
- Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams
