About the Role
As a Pest Control Officer, you will play a vital role in helping Westminster City Council meet its statutory obligations by ensuring the City of Westminster is kept free of rats, mice and other vermin. You will deliver a customer-focused, high-quality service by advising complainants and staff on suitable treatments and preventative measures. Your duties will include carrying out surveys of sites and premises following complaints or as part of regular inspections, coordinating and executing treatments using approved methods, and undertaking block treatment and sewer baiting programmes. You will also be responsible for collecting and disposing of clinical waste, maintaining accurate records of work and pesticide use, and monitoring stock control registers.
Maintaining council-issued IT equipment and vehicles in good working order is essential, as is participation in the emergency call-out roster outside normal working hours. You will also assist with other appropriate non-recurring duties as required. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the health and wellbeing of Westminster’s communities by controlling pest-related issues effectively and safely.
Experience
Experience in operational pest control with the ability to use a wide variety of information systems and technology is required.
About you
You will be a confident communicator, able to work unsupervised according to agreed programmes. Strong customer focus, friendly, approachable and empathetic manner are essential. You must be capable of planning, delivering and coordinating your workload and projects. The ability to write concise reports and maintain accurate written and computerised records of case work is important. A strong understanding of and commitment to working safely is required.
Qualifications
RSPH Level 2 in Pest Management or an equivalent qualification is essential.
