Hours
Part Time - 17.5 hours per week (exact working pattern to be discussed with the group). Evening and some weekend work required. Hybrid working may be possible depending on group needs.
Salary
Grade J £50,175 - £53,319 (pro-rata)
About the Role
Be a key support to local democracy as Political Advisor to the Green Group. This role offers the opportunity to work in a high-profile, fast-paced political environment supporting the Group Leadership and Members. You will provide administrative, policy, and communications support including coordinating meetings, drafting briefings and reports, and supporting the Council’s decision-making processes.
You will act as a vital link between your group, Members generally, senior officers, and external stakeholders and partners. The role involves handling sensitive and complex issues within a dynamic political environment.
This is a politically restricted post and your political affiliations and interests will be discussed at interview.
Experience
Experience working in a political or local government environment is desirable. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

You are highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently. You have strong written and verbal communication skills, producing clear, high-quality briefings, reports, and communications at pace. You are confident in managing sensitive information with discretion and building effective relationships with Members, officers, stakeholders, and the public. Critical thinking and sound judgement are essential, alongside a collaborative approach.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required, but a commitment to local democracy and local government is essential. A strategic mindset, passion, and innovation are highly valued.
