About the Role
This is a 12-month fixed term, full-time role at grade L within the Children’s Services Directorate. The Practice Development Lead (Audit Officer - Youth Justice Service) is a non-case holding position designed to support the delivery of the Quality Assurance Framework across the Supporting Families Division, including Early Help, Youth Justice/Youth Services, and Children’s Social Care, with a particular focus on auditing within the Youth Justice Service (YJS). The role involves undertaking audits and dip audits mainly within YJS, designing bespoke audit tools where necessary, collating and analysing audit data, and preparing reports with findings and recommendations for senior managers and service teams.

The post holder will work within the Learning Academy/Supporting Families Division, reporting day-to-day to the Quality Assurance Group Manager and collaborating closely with the YJS Management group. Key responsibilities include supporting the delivery of the Quality Assurance Framework, contributing to training programme development based on audit outcomes, tracking audit actions, monitoring the impact of learning and development programmes, assisting with policy and procedure updates, and undertaking one-off quality assurance tasks such as Management Case Reviews and Service Evaluations.

This role offers some flexible working arrangements but requires office presence three days per week to ensure effective collaboration and service delivery.

Requirements

Experience
- At least 5 years practice experience within a Youth Justice Service, including significant auditing and quality assurance experience.
- Strong knowledge of legislative frameworks, national and local standards relating to YJS.
- Familiarity with quality assurance frameworks and reporting cycles.
- Proven ability to engage and work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience driving and embedding change within complex organisations.
