About the Role
We are recruiting a Neighbourhood Compliance Officer to join our motivated Neighbourhood Team, dedicated to delivering the best housing services within Tower Hamlets. This key role focuses on neighbourhood compliance activities within housing management, ensuring adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements while keeping residents engaged and central to our work.

The role involves engaging with residents on building and fire safety housing management matters, providing advice and support, and taking tenancy or lease enforcement action when necessary to ensure resident safety. You will complete regular inspections of LBTH managed areas to ensure safe housing management practices, monitor resident behaviours, and maintain safe environments. These inspections include routine visits, ad-hoc visits following incidents, and periodic checks of secondary means of escape and communal areas, working closely with relevant officers and sections.

You will collaborate with residents and partner agencies to develop and implement building and fire safety estate action plans tailored to neighbourhood needs. Supporting Tenant and Resident Associations or groups by providing advice and attending meetings will also be part of your responsibilities.

The role requires proactive work with Asset Management to fulfil duties under the Building Safety Act, including visiting residents’ properties to provide safety advice, identify vulnerabilities, and offer housing management interventions or signposting.

Additional duties include assisting with Gas Forced Entries in line with procedures, supporting neighbourhood compliance projects requiring coordinated access to dwellings (e.g., Damp & Mould enforcement, Electrical inspections), and delivering Fire Risk Assessment actions such as enforcement of gates, clearances, and liaising with leaseholders.

You will contribute to delivering the LBTH Building and Fire Safety Resident Engagement Strategy, Fire Safety Framework, and Tenant and Leaseholder Engagement Strategy, ensuring information is accessible and understandable to residents.

Providing housing management support during and after incidents, maintaining Premises Information Boxes, and assisting with wider neighbourhood compliance issues such as Tenancy Health Checks, Safeguarding, and Hoarding are also key aspects of the role.

Accurate data collation and maintenance on LBTH systems regarding housing management and compliance actions, preparing reports, and responding to resident complaints and enquiries within agreed timescales are essential.

Other reasonable duties to support the Directorate may be assigned by the line manager or Head of Service.
