About the Role
We are seeking Principal level environmental professionals to join our Environmental Management and Assessment Team across the UK. You will work on an exciting portfolio of projects spanning sectors such as energy, aviation, nuclear, rail, property, and Local Government. This role requires a creative spirit, dedication, and a solid grounding in environmental design, assessment, and management throughout the development project lifecycle.

As one of the largest environmental consultancies in the UK, WSP is involved in some of the most challenging and high-profile projects, from small developments to major national infrastructure schemes. Our team oversees and manages environmental inputs throughout project lifecycles, engaging early at concept and option stages to shape projects that address sensitive environments and communities.

You will work closely with environmental specialists and other professionals to develop proposals that enhance the environment and communities, promoting benefits such as improved habitats, cleaner air and water, lower carbon emissions, and overall environmental gain. You will also support design and construction teams to ensure commitments are met.

This role is ideal for a proactive individual looking to progress their career by leading environmental teams and inputs across multiple sectors including rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential projects from feasibility through to planning, detailed design, construction, and handover/maintenance.

Typical responsibilities include providing environmental advice and support to clients and project teams, leading complex projects, managing technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety performance, building client relationships, securing new work through proposals and bids, developing innovative techniques such as Digital EIA and Technical Excellence, driving team performance and career development, and promoting an inclusive workplace culture aligned with health, safety, and wellbeing values.

- Ability to build and maintain client relationships and identify business development opportunities
- Commitment to promoting an inclusive workplace and health, safety, and wellbeing culture
