About the Role
WSP is seeking an experienced Principal/Associate Electrical Engineer with a background in Healthcare projects to join our London Building Services team. You will work within a large, dynamic, and supportive group of over 100 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers on prestigious and complex projects, including mission-critical infrastructure at Europe’s busiest airport.

In this role, you will take a joint leadership position within a mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice and acting as a project manager on a wide range of projects. You will supervise detailed designs, lead feasibility studies, and be responsible for the production of detailed and performance specifications.

You will act as the client’s key point of contact, ensuring overall project delivery meets client expectations and internal KPIs. You will also contribute to business development by promoting WSP’s capabilities and fostering client relationships.

Management responsibilities include line managing junior staff, maintaining project overviews, resource planning, and holding regular team meetings to address resourcing, health and safety, quality, training, and development.

The role requires incorporating WSP’s philosophies of sustainability, net zero carbon, digital design, modern methods of construction, and smart systems into your engineering solutions.

Experience
- Proven background in Building Services electrical design engineering with a specialism in Healthcare projects.
- Experience working in a team environment and leading engineers to deliver key projects.
- Ability to apply technical judgment across feasibility studies, concept, scheme, detailed design, and construction support phases.
- Experience managing technical, cost, and programme elements of project delivery.
- Working knowledge of UK electrical building services design, including relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
- BPSS security clearance is a minimum requirement.

Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualifications in electrical engineering or building services.
- Proficiency in electrical design skills including low voltage distribution systems, cable calculations (ElectricalOM, Amtech or manual), lighting calculations, energy lighting, small power, fire detection and alarm, intruder detection, access control and security systems, disabled call systems, data cabling and outlets, and lightning protection.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
