About the Role
WSP is seeking an experienced Principal or Associate Electrical Engineer with a background in Healthcare projects to join our London Building Services team. You will be part of a large, dynamic, and supportive group working across multiple sectors on prestigious and complex projects, including mission-critical infrastructure at Europe’s busiest airport.
In this role, you will take a joint leadership position within a mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice while acting as a project manager on a wide range of projects. You will supervise detailed designs, lead feasibility studies, and oversee the production of detailed and performance specifications.
You will act as the client’s key point of contact, responsible for overall project delivery, client satisfaction, and internal KPIs. You will also contribute to business development by promoting WSP’s capabilities and fostering client relationships.
Management responsibilities include line management and development of junior staff, maintaining project overviews, resource planning, and leading regular team meetings covering resourcing, health & safety, quality, training, and development.
The role requires incorporating WSP’s philosophies of sustainability, net zero carbon, digital design, modern methods of construction, and smart systems into your engineering solutions.
You will be based in a collaborative London team of over 100 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers, committed to high ethical standards, professionalism, diversity, and career development.
Experience
- Proven background in Building Services electrical design engineering with a specialism in Healthcare projects.
- Experience working in a team environment and leading engineers to deliver key projects.
- Ability to apply technical judgment and resourcefulness across feasibility studies, concept, scheme, detailed design, and construction support phases.
- Experience managing technical, cost, and programme elements of project delivery.
- Working knowledge of UK electrical building services design, including relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
- BPSS security clearance is a minimum requirement.

Qualifications
- Electrical design skills including low voltage distribution systems, cable calculations (ElectricalOM, Amtech or by hand), lighting calculations (software and manual), energy lighting, small power, fire detection & alarm, intruder detection, access control & security systems, disabled call systems, data cabling and outlets, and lightning protection.
- Relevant professional qualifications in electrical engineering or building services engineering preferred.
