About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a Private Sector Housing Officer to carry out enforcement functions that enable the Council to meet its statutory obligations in private sector housing. This role involves inspection, enforcement, education, and advice within a customer-facing, front-line environment. You will represent Harrow Council in often challenging circumstances, performing enforcement duties approximately 25% to 40% from an office base and 60% to 75% from site visits to premises across Harrow. You will carry appropriate equipment and work as part of an enforcement team in accordance with statutory requirements and Council policies. As a duly authorised Officer, you will educate and collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance public safety and wellbeing.

Experience
- Good knowledge of legislation enforced by the Private Sector Housing Team
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a demanding and pressurised environment both independently and as part of a team
- Competent in the use of standard computer systems

- High standard of written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Aptitude for the technical and legal aspects of the discipline
