Location
Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU. Hybrid working arrangement with a combination of office and home working.

Hours
Full time, standard local government working hours.

Salary
£60,633 - £62,742 per annum (P07). All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point for the grade unless matching current salary with evidential proof.

About the Role
Join Lewisham Council’s Procurement team and play a key role in delivering procurement and contract management excellence within the Housing Directorate. You will provide expert guidance and support to ensure compliance with legal and Council requirements, and contribute to the development and implementation of the Council’s procurement strategy. This role is ideal for someone passionate about driving value for money and delivering impactful public services through effective procurement practices.

Key responsibilities include managing the corporate integrated online procurement system, providing training and consultancy advice to commissioners, reviewing tender documentation for compliance, monitoring procurement practices across Directorates, and ensuring adherence to transparency and reporting requirements. You will also develop and update the Council’s procurement strategy, oversee contract management administration, and manage a team of procurement officers and apprentices to deliver professional advice and project outcomes.

In addition, you will promote the procurement strategy with senior managers and stakeholders, represent the Council on relevant bodies, and work collaboratively with public and private sector partners to maximise partnership opportunities. Attendance at Council meetings and advising senior leadership as required will also be part of your role. Flexibility and support within the Procurement and Commercial Services team are expected to meet the Council’s objectives.

Requirements

Experience
Significant experience in procurement and contract management, preferably within housing, public sector, or with registered providers. Proven ability to ensure compliance with legislation and Council regulations, deliver value for money, and support strategic objectives.

Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities to work effectively with stakeholders and deliver tailored solutions. Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications or demonstrable experience in procurement and contract management are desirable. Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to Council policies including Dignity at Work, Health & Safety, and environmental responsibilities.
