About the Role
The Financial Times is a globally recognised news organisation committed to delivering quality information with authority, integrity and accuracy. We foster a warm, collaborative culture where curiosity thrives and ambitious thinking is rewarded. As a Product Designer in the Design Systems team, you will play a key role in evolving Origami, the FT’s design system, enabling teams to design and build with greater consistency, quality and speed. You will work across reusable principles, patterns, foundations, components and libraries that support product delivery across web and mobile platforms, including iOS and Android in a hybrid environment. Collaboration with product designers, engineers, product managers, Brand and Editorial Design teams is essential to ensure alignment across foundational styles and journalistic layouts. You will contribute to a federated contribution model, helping teams adopt and evolve the system over time. Accessibility is fundamental to this role, ensuring all patterns, components and guidance meet high accessibility standards from the outset. You will also explore and apply AI-assisted tooling to support prototyping, component definition and documentation, contributing to making Origami usable within AI-assisted workflows. This role offers the opportunity to develop your design systems practice within an established and evolving team while creating a premium, coherent FT product experience.
