About the Role
Ealing is a highly diverse and vibrant borough in west London, home to around 370,000 people, making it the third largest borough by population in London. This role offers the opportunity to work with a named Public Health Principal to support the delivery of the Adult’s agenda aimed at improving health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities across the borough.

You will collaborate with a range of partners both within the Council and across the borough, applying your public health knowledge across multiple topic areas. This position provides a valuable learning opportunity to gain insight into wider public health work and tackling inequalities within a local authority setting.

The public health team fosters a strong learning ethos and offers a supportive environment. The Council Plan emphasizes tackling inequalities, supporting healthy lives, and engaging communities. The recently launched Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2023-28 focuses on reducing inequalities and improving the building blocks of health.

Ealing Council has secured £5 million funding from NIHR to establish a Health Determinants Research Collaboration, working closely with communities and academic partners. The Council maintains strong cross-departmental relationships, strengthened through joint efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

By joining Ealing, you will be part of a respected, innovative, and diverse London borough with a strong commitment to health and wellbeing. Public Health leads early intervention and prevention work, collaborating across council departments and local strategic partners to drive system change.

The current working arrangement is hybrid, with office attendance encouraged at least two days per week, subject to departmental needs. Flexible working is considered for all roles within the Public Health team.

This is an exciting time to join Ealing Council and make a positive difference to residents and the borough.
