About the Role
Ealing is a highly diverse and vibrant borough in west London, home to around 370,000 people, making it the third largest borough by population in London. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a respected, innovative, and diverse local authority committed to health and wellbeing. You will work closely with a named Public Health Principal to support the delivery of the Children’s agenda aimed at improving health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities across the borough.
You will collaborate with a wide range of partners both within the Council and across the borough, applying your public health knowledge across multiple topic areas. The role provides a great learning environment with a strong ethos of support and development, enabling you to gain insight into wider public health work and tackling inequalities within a local authority setting.
The Council Plan prioritizes tackling inequalities, supporting healthy lives, and engaging communities. The recently launched Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2023-28 focuses on reducing inequalities and improving the building blocks of health. Ealing Council has also secured £5 million funding from NIHR to establish a Health Determinants Research Collaboration, working closely with communities and academic partners.
Public Health is central to early intervention and prevention work, collaborating across council departments and local strategic partners to drive system change. The majority of staff currently work in a hybrid model, with office attendance encouraged at least two days per week, subject to departmental needs.
Joining Ealing Council means becoming part of a team dedicated to making a positive difference to residents and the borough.
Experience
Experience in public health or related fields is desirable. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and partners across sectors is essential. Experience in project support or coordination within a public health or local government context will be advantageous.
About you
You are motivated to contribute to reducing health inequalities and improving children’s health outcomes. You have strong communication and organisational skills, are adaptable, and thrive in a supportive, learning-focused environment. You are committed to working inclusively and fairly, reflecting the diverse community of Ealing.
Qualifications
A relevant degree or equivalent experience in public health, health promotion, social sciences, or a related discipline is preferred. You must have the right to work in the UK. This role is subject to Ealing Council’s enhanced vetting process.
