About the Role
We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Housing Major Works team and play a key role in the successful delivery of Haringey’s housing investment programme. Working across a diverse portfolio of capital projects, you will provide professional quantity surveying, cost management and contract support services, helping to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, achieve value for money and support the Council’s wider housing objectives. You will work closely with project teams, contractors, consultants and stakeholders to support the procurement, delivery and close-out of major works projects.

You will be responsible for controlling projects from a cost perspective, reviewing consultant submissions, assessing contract sums, bills of quantities and labour costs, and ensuring that project expenditure is managed effectively throughout delivery. You will undertake final account reviews and support the timely close-out of projects, helping to maintain strong financial control across the programme.

Supporting the development of a strong commercial culture across Housing Property Services, you will challenge costs where necessary, provide advice to the Major Works team and help maximise value from the Council’s contractual relationships. You will contribute to contract administration activities, contract review meetings and the day-to-day commercial oversight of property-related contracts.

The role will also involve preparing tender reports, reviewing consultant submissions in accordance with framework requirements and supporting compliance with procurement rules, contract standing orders and commercial governance requirements. You will assist in the preparation of management cost reports and work collaboratively with colleagues and delivery partners to ensure successful project outcomes.

About the Team
You’ll join the Asset Management team within Haringey’s Adults, Housing and Health directorate, working closely with colleagues across Housing Services, Building Safety, Procurement, Legal, Finance and other enabling services. The team is responsible for delivering the council’s annual housing investment programme, valued at up to £40 million, and is committed to improving the quality, safety and sustainability of homes across the borough. Collaboration is at the heart of how the team works — you’ll be supported by experienced project managers, senior leaders and technical specialists, and will contribute to a culture focused on continuous improvement, resident-centred delivery and strong partnership working.

Experience
At least 3 years’ experience managing costs and contracts within construction, housing, property or capital projects environments. Experience of working on major works, refurbishment or capital investment projects is particularly valuable. Knowledge of contract forms commonly used in social housing and construction is desirable.

Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications in quantity surveying or related disciplines are desirable but not explicitly stated. A strong understanding of quantity surveying, cost management, procurement and contract administration is essential.
