About the Role
Southwark Council is offering an exciting opportunity to join our brand-new leisure centre and help empower residents to lead healthier, happier lives. As a Recreation Assistant at Canada Water Leisure Centre, you will play a vital role in keeping our customers safe in and around the water. In addition to lifeguarding duties, you will be responsible for cleaning assigned areas, setting up and breaking down activities and events, and conducting pool testing according to established procedures. You will be part of a dynamic and diverse team committed to delivering outstanding customer experiences and promoting community wellbeing.

Experience
Previous lifeguarding experience is preferred but not essential. A strong swimmer with excellent customer service skills is required.

About you
You will have confidence, an approachable nature, and excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to appropriately correct pool user behaviour. A high standard of physical fitness is essential. You should be enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced, community-focused environment and committed to promoting safety and wellbeing.

Qualifications
A UK recognised pool lifeguard qualification (RLSS) is required. You must have an understanding of relevant health and safety legislation.
