36 hours per week on a rota basis. Shifts may include weekends, holidays, overnight work and may require working outside normal hours to meet service needs.

Salary
Up to £54,000 per annum with opportunities to advance up the pay scale and promotional prospects.

About the Role
Make 2025 the year you lead change by joining Southwark’s second Children’s Home as Deputy Manager. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with the Registered Manager to establish and manage an innovative 5-bedded residential service supporting children and young people aged 8 to 17. Supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychologists, education advisers from the virtual school, health professionals, and social workers, you will help shape a nurturing, local environment where children can truly thrive.

Southwark’s Children & Families Services consistently achieve Ofsted's Good rating in all areas. This new Children’s Residential Service aims to support more children in care to live locally and remain connected to their communities. You will be part of a ground-breaking project from day one, with access to high-quality professional development and training opportunities, making a lasting impact on the lives of young people.

Your responsibilities will include working closely with the Registered Manager to establish and manage the service, directly leading Team Leaders to ensure motivation and development, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, maintaining high standards of care, assisting with day-to-day operations and regulatory compliance, fostering a positive environment for young people and staff, and developing a child-centred, outcome-focused home where children and young people can thrive.

Requirements

Experience
- Previous experience in a similar role within a residential setting
- Proven track record supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
- Experience supervising staff and deputising for a Registered Manager

About you
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of childcare, child development, and the impact of trauma
- Flexibility to work shift patterns including weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of care and fostering a positive team culture

Qualifications
- QCF Level 4 Children, Young People and Family Practitioner Diploma or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of OFSTED legislation and regulatory compliance
