About the Role
As a Roads and Street Works Coordinator, you will be responsible for the statutory co-ordination and management of street works carried out by the council as highway authority and statutory undertakers on the public highway. Your work will comply with the Traffic Management Act (2004), the New Roads and Street Works Act (1991), and relevant Codes of Practice. You will help Southwark Council meet its duty to ensure the road network is effectively managed, disruption is minimised, and all activities are undertaken safely.
Your role involves collaborating with other Coordinators to ensure all permits are responded to promptly and all correspondence is handled appropriately. You will also represent Southwark Council at public meetings as required and coordinate the Lane Rental Network while maintaining relevant information. Additionally, you will manage the Streetworks register and other coordination systems, attend site meetings when appropriate, and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers through various channels.

Experience
Experience in liaising with Highways and statutory undertakers to facilitate day-to-day working programmes is desirable. Experience in coordinating temporary or permanent permits and licenses is important. Attendance at site meetings and managing coordination systems is expected.

You will be an effective communicator able to respond to internal and external customer enquiries sensitively and efficiently via telephone, email, letter, or face-to-face. You should be able to represent the council at public meetings and work collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders. A proactive approach to managing the streetworks register and coordination systems is essential.
Qualifications
